腾飞中国 | 中华人民共和国成立 PRC is established

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on Oct 1, 1949.

中华人民共和国成立于1949年10月1日，2019年是新中国成立70周年。

In a grand ceremony (盛大的典礼) in Beijing’s Tian’anmen Square, Chairman Mao Zedong solemnly proclaimed (庄严宣布) the founding of the PRC. After that, the military parade began. The parade lasted for two and a half hours, with spectacular (壮观的) scenes showing the People’s Liberation Army’s powerful and grand lineup (阵容).

在北京天安门广场举行的开国大典上，毛泽东主席庄严宣布中华人民共和国成立。随后举行了时长两个半小时的阅兵式，宏大壮观的场面展现出人民解放军的威武英姿。

The founding of the PRC sent the message that “the Chinese people have stood up”, according to China Daily. Even with changing times, the people have not forgotten their roots and the values behind the founding of the PRC.

中华人民共和国的成立，意味着“中国人民站起来了。”时光流逝，但中国人民始终没有忘记新中国成立背后的初心。

Today, the nation has grown rich – thanks to the reform and opening-up which began about four decades ago – and is on track to becoming strong under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

如今，经过40年来的改革开放，祖国变得更加富强，并在习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的指引下，走上日益强大的道路。
