48年前的1971年10月25日，中华人民共和国恢复了在联合国的合法席位，联合国承认中华人民共和国是安理会五个常任理事国之一。

It’s been 48 years since China regained its lawful membership of the United Nations (UN) and its place on the UN Security Council (联合国安理会) on Oct 25, 1971.

自那时起，中国就致力于维护联合国的权威，推广多边主义，提倡公正的世界政治秩序。

Since then, China has dedicated (致力) itself to promoting multilateralism (多边主义) in safeguarding the authority of the UN and advocating (提倡) a just world political order.

据新华社报道，今年，中国成为联合国常规预算第二大出资国，仅次于美国。

China became the second largest contributor to the UN regular budget (预算) this year, second only to the United States, reported Xinhua News Agency.

据新华社报道，中国目前还是联合国维和预算的第二大贡献者，有2500名左右维和人员参与联合国的9个维和及反恐行动。

China is now also the second-largest country to share UN peacekeeping costs and has some 2,500 peacekeepers serving in nine UN peacekeeping and anti-terrorism (反恐) operations, according to Xinhua.

中国还强调其他形式多边合作的重要性，推动国际性军备裁减、人道主义援助以及环境保护。

China also attaches great importance to other forms of multilateral cooperation, and promotes international arms control and disarmament (裁减军备), humanitarian (人道主义的) aid and environment protection.

2017年1月18日，中国国家主席习近平在联合国日内瓦总部发表主旨演讲。在演讲中，习近平给出了面对全球挑战时的中国方案：构建人类命运共同体，实现共赢共享。

On Jan 18, 2017, President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote (主旨) speech at the United Nations Office in Geneva. In his address, he elaborated (解释) on China’s solution to current global challenges: Building a community with a shared future for mankind that features all-win cooperation and sharing.
